Multi User Diversity Evaluation in MIMO HSDPA Downlink Channels
نویسندگان
چکیده
A multiple transmit antenna, single receive antenna (per receiver) downlink channel with limited channel feedback is considered. Given a constraint on the total system-wide channel feedback, the following question is considered: is it preferable to get low-rate feedback from a large number of receivers or to receive high-rate/high-quality feedback from a smaller number of (randomly selected) receivers. Acquiring feedback from many users allows multi-user diversity to be exploited, while highrate feedback allows for very precise selection of beamforming directions. It is shown that systems in which a limited number of users feedback high-rate channel information significantly outperform low-rate/many user systems. The marginal benefit of channel feedback is very significant up to the point where the CSI is essentially perfect. keywords: Multi-user multi-input multi-output, Base Station, Channel Feedback, Channael State Information(CSI), Random Beforming.

Free Space Experiments with Mimo Umts High Speed Downlink Packet Access
The HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) mode of UMTS provides high data rates to the user. In this contribution comparisons, based on free space measurements, between SISO (Single Input Single Output) HSDPA and MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) HSDPA are shown. For two transmit antennas the STTD (Space-Time Transmit Diversity) mode of UMTS is used to increase the diversity order of th...

We compare the achievable throughput of time division multiple access multiple-input multiple output (TDMAMIMO) scheme illustrated in 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) MIMO technical report (TR), versus the sum-rate capacity of a space-time multiple access (STMA). These schemes have been proposed to improve 3GPP high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) channel by employing multiple ant...

In High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA), the majority of results assumes that perfect channel estimation is available and does not consider a suitable method of channel estimation or its effect on system performance. In this paper, we present a channel estimation based on a simple pilot scheme with space time rake receiver taking into account the speed of User Equipment (UE) in HARQ contex...
متن کاملOn the Performance of Multiuser MIMO Systems in WCDMA/HSDPA: Beamforming, Feedback and User Diversity
Several multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) techniques have been proposed for 3GPP WCDMA/HSDPA systems and several performance evaluation for the comparison purpose are in progress. Most MIMO candidates in HSDPA have been generally designed for pointto-point communication, which means that a single-user throughput is of their major concern. However, multiple users and user scheduling need to ...

Interaction between the Medium Access Control (MAC)-layer and the physical-layer routines is one of the basic concepts of modern wireless networks. Physical-layer dependent resource allocation and scheduling guarantee efficient network utilization. Accordingly, classical link-level analyses, focusing only on the physical-layer are not sufficient anymore for optimum transceiver structure and alg...
